The Radio Frequency(RF) coil acts as an antenna to receive the radio frequency signal coming out from your body. The MRI machine converts the raw data into a visual scan that can assist the doctors with the diagnosis. 

The RF coil is one of the most essential parts of an MRI machine. Faulty coils can affect the quality of MRI scans that can negatively impact the doctor’s ability to interpret the results.

There are plenty of options for coils depending on their use. The different shapes of coils such as surface coil, birdcage coil etc. are available for different applications. The number of channels can also be increased when in-depth high resolution scan is needed.
